Shopify design & development for Literary Emporium, a literary-inspired gifts brand for book lovers
Please note that websites may be changed by the client post-project and therefore may appear differently.
I worked with Literary Emporium to redesign and rebuild their Shopify website into something that felt more immersive, atmospheric and true to the brand.
As a family-run business creating literary-inspired gifts for book lovers, it was important that the new site felt thoughtful and design-led while still being really easy to shop.
The goal of the project was to create a website that could become the true home of the brand, helping grow direct website sales while moving away from relying so heavily on external marketplaces. The new homepage balances storytelling with ecommerce through strong photography, curated collections, calmer layouts and subtle illustrated details that bring in a slightly magical, bookish feel without overwhelming the products.
Alongside the visual redesign, I also focused heavily on mobile experience, collection navigation and overall usability to make browsing feel smooth and intuitive for customers discovering the brand through Instagram, Pinterest and online book communities.
The finished site feels warm, welcoming and much more reflective of Literary Emporium’s personality, like stepping into a beautifully curated independent bookshop online.

I’m Danielle, the designer & developer who makes things simple
My website design and development process is simple: we work together to figure out exactly what your business needs before I do the BTS magic to make it come to life. Everything I do is collaborative, supportive and creative, so that you actually enjoy the website build process, rather than it keeping you up at night.
