Shopify & Squarespace Development for Designers
You've designed a beautiful website. Now you need a developer who can bring your vision to life. I partner with designers who want to stay focused on creating beautiful websites without worrying about the technical side. Whether you've designed a Shopify store or a Squarespace website, I'll build it with care, clear communication and plenty of attention to detail.
You're great at designing websites and I'm great at building them.
You're great at designing websites and I'm great at building them.
Instead of juggling code, troubleshooting bugs and learning platform quirks or limitations, you can focus on what you do best while I handle the development.
I'm here to take the technical side off your plate, while keeping your design front and centre. I'll build your website with the same care you've put into designing it, keeping you updated throughout and making sure the finished site is something we're both proud of.
Shopify Development
You've designed a Shopify store your client is going to love. Now let's make sure it works just as beautifully behind the scenes.
Shopify is one of the best ecommerce platforms available, but getting the most out of it takes more than choosing a theme and adding products. It needs thoughtful development, flexible sections, a smooth shopping experience and a website that's easy for your client to manage after launch.
I'll take your approved designs and build them into a custom Shopify store using a carefully selected theme as the foundation. From there, I'll customise the layout, styling and functionality to create a website that feels completely bespoke. You can focus on creating a brilliant shopping experience, while I take care of the technical build.

Squarespace development
Squarespace is a fantastic platform for service-based businesses and creatives and small ecommerce brands. It offers more design flexibility than many people realise, especially when paired with thoughtful custom development.
I'll take your approved designs and build them into a polished Squarespace website that's true to your vision and simple for your client to update. Where needed, I'll use custom CSS to achieve the finer details, while making sure the finished website is intuitive to manage long after launch.

How we'll work together
-
The best websites start with a great design and a realistic plan for bringing it to life.
For Shopify:
Almost every Shopify website, no matter how custom it looks, starts with a theme. Think of it as the foundation of the website. From there, I'll use custom sections, styling and code to create a website that feels completely bespoke.
As you're designing, feel free to send over any ambitious ideas or feature requests. We'll chat through what's possible, make sure everything stays within scope and I'll recommend the best Shopify theme to use as our starting point.
For Squarespace:
Squarespace gives you plenty of creative freedom, but there are still a few platform quirks worth considering. If I spot anything that could impact the user experience or make the website difficult for your client to update, I'll let you know.
After all, no one wants to hand over a website that can only be edited by a developer.
-
Before you present your designs to your client, we'll jump on a quick call to review everything together. Bring a coffee (or your favourite beverage) and show up as you are - my calls and very friendly and casual.
We'll check that the design is achievable within Shopify or Squarespace, confirm any custom functionality and make sure the project is still within scope. It's also a great opportunity to ask questions or bounce around ideas before development begins.
-
Once your client has approved the design, it's time for handover.
I'll need:
The approved design files or wireframes
Brand assets and logos
Web fonts (if applicable)
Images and graphics
Any copy that's ready to go
Because development starts from the approved design, any significant design changes after this point may require an additional quote.
-
Now it's over to me.
I'll build your website with care, paying close attention to the details that make your design feel polished and professional.
Once development is complete, I'll send the website back to you so you can present it to your client. We'll include one round of minor revisions to refine any small details before launch.
To finish things off, I'll record bespoke training videos so your client feels confident updating their own website. The goal is to leave them with a website that's easy to manage, without needing to come back to a developer every time they want to change some text or upload a new image.
We’ll be a great fit if…
You want your designs brought to life by someone who understands and appreciates good design.
You'd rather spend your time creating beautiful websites than troubleshooting technical issues.
You're looking for a long-term development partner, not just someone to tick off a to-do list.
You value clear communication, honest advice and working together to find the best solution.
You want a developer who will protect the quality of your work, not just build what's on the page.
You appreciate honest conversations about what's possible and what's not.
Want even more details?
I don’t blame you! Choosing a website developer can feel daunting - how do you know what you need from your website build process before you start? I want you to feel as comfortable as possible when choosing me - so if you have any questions before you reach out for a quote, please ask!
-
Because I want every project to be successful for both of us and the client.
Shopify and Squarespace are brilliant platforms, but they do have limitations. Occasionally, a design might include something that isn't technically possible, would be out of scope for the client’s budget, would create accessibility issues or would be unnecessarily difficult for your client to manage later on.
Reviewing the design together means we can spot those things early and find the best solution before development begins.
I promise I'm not here to pull your designs apart. It’s quite the opposite, my goal is to protect issues from arising so that you can have a website that looks great and works.
-
That's always the aim. I'll stay as true to your design as the platform allows and if I think something needs a different technical approach, I'll always explain why and talk it through with you first. That’s why the call to review your design before you send it to your client is so important.
-
Absolutely - I love seeing your ideas when you’re designing! Some of the smoothest projects happen because we've had a quick conversation before the designs are finished and I can let you know if any super creative ideas are actually possible. A five-minute chat can save hours later on.
-
Usually no. I'm your behind-the-scenes development partner, so all client communication stays with you. This keeps the project running smoothly, avoids confusion about who's leading the project and ensures your client always knows who to contact during and after launch.
If there are technical questions that would benefit from my input, I'm happy to provide information for you to pass on. But as a general rule, you'll remain the main point of contact throughout the project.
